She was born in Bandoeng in Indonesia and moved to the Netherlands when she was ten. Only later did Frances Hordijk discover her passion for painting. She took lessons with various fine artists and and followed courses at the Vrije Academie in Delft and Leiden/Voorschoten. She exhibits regularly and after winning a public award during an annual exhibition in Museum Rijswijk, she decided to present her work further afield: the Archipelbuurt being a most fitting venue given her origins Frances Hordijk's work can be seen from 31 January till mid-April 2010.
Would you like to exhibit your work? Then contact Elisabeth König at 070-346 70 08.

| The scaffolding has gone and ‘t Klokhuis has officially reopened Chairman Martin Bakker and councillor Bert van Alphen rang in the new era of the fully renovated community centre in celebratory style on Saturday 2 June, officially marking the end of a long period of modernization. As well as the speeches, there were gifts too. An original Sens clock presented by local resident Mr, van Vliet, now marks time on the wall of the community centre which was formerly a clock factory run by the Sens family. (Hence the name ‘t Klokhuis.) Also hanging on the walls is another gift from the Residents Association: 25 photos of scenes emphasizing the diversity of Archipel and Willemspark by photographer Karen Kommer. The perfect setting for these photos: at the heart of the community. They were first displayed in various shop windows throughout the neighbourhood as part of the 35th Juilee Celebrations back in December 2006. Come along and have a look and at the same time sample the new décor, furniture and garden along with a cup of coffee. |
