Mediterranean cuisine is back in Mallemolen
Restaurant Olijf (Olive) opened at Mallemolen 10a (formerly Watertanden) at the end of August 2011. A number of the items on the menu will change each week in tandem with the season and most are available as starters or main courses.
Biologically produced ingredients
Biologically produced or sustainably-viable ingredients and free-range products are the order of the day, says Olga Struyk joint owner with Jean Sebastiaan (simply known as Joe). They also serve ecological beer and some wines as well fair trade coffee from Ethiopia.
Local experience
Before starting up in Mallemolen, the owners had thirteen years experience running a restaurant/bistro in Delft. Willemspark is also a familiar patch. Olga was for a number of years manager of Plato the restaurant on Frederikstraat. During those years she discovered Mallemolen, the Montmartre of The Hague, and hoped that one day she could open a restaurant there.
The restaurant comprises two sections: the restaurant area where clients can have lunch, drinks, dinners or business talks and a separate dining area for those wishing to organise a special lunch or dinner. Naturally, when the weather allows there is also a pavement terrace for snacks and drinks.
Restaurant Olijf is closed Sundays and open from Monday to Saturday from 17.30 till 22.00.
