A veritable feast in the kitchen at De Tapperij for those who enjoy good food with a special celebratory priced 3-course menu (€29.50) We cordially invite to join us during our week to celebrate good quality, fresh cuisine from our kitchen. Hans Richel will be cooking the specially compiled menu below with Michiel and Jeroen all week:
Fête de la Cuisine is organized by Euro-Toques, an association of chefs from all over Europe who are passionate about their profession. These chefs reject the shift towards standardisation in the area of food and advocate respect for diversity. They believe in using fresh, local products so that Culinary Europe remains a patchwork of tastes and colours and fully retains its charm. Fête de la Cuisine in De Tapperij has been made possible in partnership with: our own De Exotenhof, Boerderij Lindenhoff in Baambrugge and Pronk-Hollandvis in Scheveningen. Because there are a limited number of tables in De Tapperij we advise you to book your table early: 070-3523998 Kind regards, De Tapperij Annette en Hans Richel |

The club at the rear of the premises is the final stage in the development of this multifacetted venue.

It is a genuine Japanese establishment. Of very high quality, serving exceptional dishes (again really Japanese), with a pleasant, relaxed ambience with tranquil classical Japanese music playing in the background and the most cordial
There is a pleasant eating counter typical of restaurants in Japan, where you can watch the sushi chef preparing the food. And just like in Japan (but something never experienced in the Netherlands), plenty of green tea on the house. Takeaway is also an option for a veritable feast at home (or in the summer on the beach). In short, a genuine and congenial addition to the culinary richness available in the neighbourhood that everyone should know about! Balistraat 3 Tel: 06 18113316 October 2009, Ruth van Rossum |

Mallemolen’s gain - Restaurant Mochi
Mochi was formerly located on Hooigracht for three years and is listed in three top restaurant guides: Special Bite, Lekker and Gault Millau. Japanese-Latin cuisine Mochi serves a combination of Japanese and Latin cuisine with a large selection of small dishes featuring tantalizing tastes presented on separate plates. This encourages diners to sample one another’s choices and certainly gets the conversation going, says chef Patrick Buyze. The interesting matching of food and extraordinary wines is the result of time spent abroad and the influence of co-partner and wife Lissette, originally from Colombia. Mochi also does party catering on location or in your home. In the summer they have an arrangement with the beach bar Whoosah Beach Club on Zwarte Pad The restaurant kitchen is open every day from 18.00 but guests wishing to have just a relaxing drink are welcome earlier. There is a set menu from €28.50 per person and good news for smokers: the terrace will remain open during the winter months and of course will be heated. Macho bistro Koetjes & Kalfjes open again after fire
Restyling The restaurant was closed longer than expected because the interior underwent a restyling at the same time. The bar has been relocated at the front of the restaurant and the ceilings have been raised. New materials have been used for the refurbishment, but the interior is still macho although the style seems different because less cowhide motifs have been used. “The staff are the same as before the closure”, says chef Tom Woltinge, who also held sway in the kitchen before the fire. A pleasant lunch, drink or get-together can still be enjoyed in the “next door”.
The Koetjes en Kalfjes’ kitchen is for the time being only open for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday from 17.30 till 21.30. Photos: Karen Kommer As of mid-August 2009 the restaurant will be open 7 days a week. Tuesday – Saturday: lunch from 12.00 till 14.30; dinner from 17.30 till 21.30. On Sundays High Tea is served from 14.00. For more information visit www.koetjesenkalfjes.com MW, July 2009 |

‘Best Pub’ in the Netherlands
Restaurant
The Archipel is yet another good and congenial restaurant the richer: Sushi Morikawa.
After being forced to close more than four months ago, Koetjes & Kalfjes is ready again to receive you for lunch, a drink or dinner. Less than a year after its opening in 2008, fire broke out in one of the toilets and as a result, the restaurant and the upstairs apartment suffered serious smoke and water damage.
Koetjes & Kalfjes is a modern bistro where fresh produce occupies centre stage in the kitchen; a no nonsense concept allowing customers to eat for a reasonable price. The restaurant is also available for group bookings: business and private.
